“I want to work where I can make a real difference for kids who need someone to believe in them. That’s what drives me every day.”
Dr. Bobby Ott leads with a fierce love for students and faith in the power of public schools.
His 28-year career in education is fueled by his desire to be like the coach who took him in as a teenager when his father was incarcerated and mother moved away to California, leaving him without a home. This 2022 Texas Superintendent of the Year advocates for students by forming community partnerships that provide more opportunity and pathways to in-demand careers. He’s spends time listening to people, building relationships and cheering in the stands so students know someone is always rooting them on.
Ott believes great leadership is key to creating school environments where students thrive. With guidance from Holdsworth, Temple ISD has built a leadership model admired across Texas, and Ott’s hands-on leadership style continues to inspire his community to dream big and aim higher.
Driven by the belief that teachers and students thrive with great leadership, The Holdsworth Center builds stronger leaders for Texas public schools. Founded as a nonprofit in 2017 by H-E-B Chairman Charles Butt, Holdsworth provides world-class leadership development programs and services within districts and at its Campus on Lake Austin, a one-of-a-kind place dedicated to the idea that public education holds worth.
